Gartneriet PKM a/s was founded in 1948 by Poul and Marie Madsen. In around 1960, they started the production of Campanula and cactus, which was extended in 1980 with the inclusion of Pinus. In 1983, a new marketing strategy commenced, where decorated Pinus were sold in pots. The son, Kristian Madsen, took over control of PKM in 1989. In 2002, PKM took over the nursery Lumbyholm A/S. The success of PKM is due to focus on five areas of action with equal priority: Employees, product development and trends, quality and durability, expansion, and reduction of costs.
The aim of PKM is to contribute to the development of new cultivation methods with specific criteria for consumption of energy, nutrition and pesticides, as well as waste handling. PKM is registered with MPS, Milieu Programma Sierteelt - the international certification organization for horticulture - which certifies environmental performance by assessing resource use in a holistic perspective, setting certification criteria for the consumption of energy, fertilizers, crop protection agents and waste separation.

PKM's success can be explained by, among other things, a large investment in product development, which has resulted in products that can be marketed on parameters other than just price. We call our Campanula varieties Blue Get Mee®, White Get Mee®, Blue Wonder®, White Wonder®, The Crown Princess's Bellflower® and Thumbelina's Bellflower®.
