The nursery was founded in 1948 by Katrine & Alfred Pedersen. It started with two small greenhouses, where cut flowers were grown. Soon more greenhouses were built, and the cut flowers were replaced with cucumbers. In 1976, Katrine & Alfred began to grow tomatoes, which were then sold at auction in Odense.
In 1982, Alfred and Katrine were the first in Europe to supply tomatoes placed directly into packaging trays at the time of picking, and in 1995 they began supplying their tomatoes under the brand name "Katrine & Alfred’s".
Today, Alfred Pedersen & Son ApS is a modern nursery, which is at the forefront in terms of both quality and reducing the impact on the environment. The nursery has now been passed on to the next generation, with Katrine and Alfred’s son Mads having taken over as director and owner of the nursery. Mads is a fourth generation gardener and endeavours to continue the family tradition of only producing the best vegetables with maximum respect for the environment. Besides many varieties of tomatoes, the product range also contains snack peppers.
