Kold College and Fionia Lighting have entered into a newly established partnership, where an area in the new education nursery at Kold College will be equipped solely by top-light LED luminaires. The LED area will occuply half of the total installation. The light system ordered by Kold College is designed to enable demonstration and education regarding the possible applications of light emitting diodes (LED) as growth light in commercial nurseries. The new facility will be used to educate new growers and horticultural students in growing green with less electricity. Fionia Lighting A/S will use the new greenhouse area for continued testing and investigation of LED lighting as growth light in commercial nurseries.
An early integration of LED luminaires into the Danish commercial horticulture sector will enable the sector to be at the forefront of development and enhance competitiveness significantly. Inclusion of knowledge about the possibilities of LEDs as artificial light in the training of future professional gardeners will, of course, also affect the integration of LED luminaires in horticulture.
The project will be delivered to Kold College in collaboration with Senmatic, who will supply new LCC 4 climate computers and Super Link 5. Consequently, Kold College will get the opportunity to educate new gardeners in the very latest technology.
The greenhouse, which is currently under construction, is expected to be operational by 01.01.12.
